Target prioritization

Target prioritization which means to identify suitable targets (such as genes, proteins, non-peptide gene products and pathways) for characterization, is one of the most critical steps in biology, particularly in annotating gene function, drug discovery and understanding molecular bases of diseases. Here, the prioritization does not attempt to order the candidates but to distinguish or to narrow down fewer candidates from a lot of them.

We have proposed  a prioritization protocol using TargetMine (Chen et al., 2011).
